The History of Chobots and Chotopia

The original Chobots opened to players in 2008 and closed in 2011. Chotopia, founded in 2014, is a fan-made revival that now offers browser and desktop ways to return to the virtual world.

What was Chobots?

The original Chobots was a social online world where players created a character called a Cho, explored shared locations, chatted, played games, completed activities, and collected items. It entered public beta in 2008, and the original service ended in 2011.

2008

Chobots enters public beta

By October 2008, Chobots.com was in public beta. Its official blog introduced a social world with quests, avatar and home customization, pets, parties, and live moderation.

How Chotopia can be played now

The modern browser player works without installing Flash. Players with a compatible Pale Moon setup can also choose the classic player, while desktop clients provide a dedicated Chotopia window.
